Room 226, Wednesday night

After orbing himself, Isabel, Michael, and Ronan from the beach, and after Ronan and Michael had left them, Wyatt shut the door behind them and walked across the room. He put his hands on Isabel's arms. "Hey," he said softly. "How are you doing?"

Wyatt didn't want to think about it, either. So instead he put his hand under her chin and tilted her head up, then brought his lips down on hers.

Isabel returned the kiss softly for a long moment before pulling away and resting her head on Wyatt's shoulder. "Just hold me?"

"Nothing I want more," Wyatt murmured, more than content to just lay there and hold her.

"He's dead," she said finally.

"Who's dead?" Wyatt said. "The guy who did this?"

Isabel nodded. "I think, I killed him."

"Good," was Wyatt's first reaction. Even though he wanted to do it himself.

"Maybe. I don't know," she said carefully. "He loved her. He wanted to save her."

"He could've asked you to heal her," Wyatt pointed out. "He didn't have to kidnap you and Meg."

"He could have," Isabel agreed, reaching for his hand. "But he didn't. I don't think he was entirely rationale at the end. He wanted her to kill you. You and Michael, Peter. All the people I loved. I think he thought if she did that, I'd give up."

Wyatt laced his fingers with hers and squeezed her hand. "But you couldn't," he said softly. "Because you were stronger than her."

"You made me strong," she replied. "What you said. I won't forget that."

"Meant every word," Wyatt said. "I love you."

Isabel turned her head for another kiss. "Love you too. So much."

"I would've found a way to bring you back," Wyatt said fiercely. "No matter what."

"No. Not no matter what," she said. "I don't know much about magic. But I do know that'd be wrong. You can't."

"I don't care," Wyatt said. "I wasn't going to lose you. Not if there was anything I could do."

"You need to care," Isabel replied. "Because what if you'd brought me back? But there were consequences for you? How do you think I'd feel?"

"What good is having power if you can't use it," Wyatt said. "I would've found a way. I don't care about consequences."

"Having power means using it responsibly," she said, unconsciously channeling Peter Parker. "And caring about the consequences. Even with the power you have, you're not going to be able to fix everything. You have to know that."

"Doesn't mean I won't try," Wyatt said. He kissed her temple. "I don't want to argue. I just want to hold you."

Isabel didn't want to argue either. They could talk about it another time, when they were less emotionally drained and stressed. It was a moot point now.

Burrowing close, she closed her eyes. "It's all I want. I'm tired," she admitted. "I don't think I've slept well since before this all started."

"I've got you," Wyatt said softly. "Go to sleep. I'll watch over you."

"Good," she murmured. Safe in Wyatt's arms, Isabel quickly fell asleep.

Wyatt stayed awake for a long time, watching her sleep, stroking her hair. But he was drained by the past few days as well, and after awhile, he fell asleep, too.
