blessed_twice | Room 226, Thursday evening

After finishing up at the store and then spending some time up in her room catching up with her mom, Isabel made her way down to the second floor and knocked on Wyatt's door.

"It's open!" Wyatt called, wondering if he could just lock the thing in the bathroom.

"And how was your day?" she asked as she came in and immediately headed over for a kiss.

Then the crying actually made it past the primal urge of must kiss boyfriend now. Isabel stopped and stared.

"The hell?"

"Kill it," Wyatt flailed. "Make it go away!"

It was tempting. But Isabel refrained for the moment. "What is it?"

"Ethics project," Wyatt sighed. "Take care of robot baby for a week."

"Oh man. All Bel and I had to worry about was our egg baby," she laughed. "Class has gone high tech."

Isabel had minimal experience with children and even less with babies, but she was pretty sure leaving it to cry on the bed was not a good thing. She picked it up and tried to rock it gently.

"At least eggs don't cry," Wyatt said, trying not to be slightly wigged about his girlfriend raising a baby with his demon uncle. He watched Isabel as the baby stopped crying. "She likes you."

"She just wanted to be held and I can't believe I'm saying this about a doll," Isabel replied. "And no, I'm not taking care of her all week."

Wyatt gave her his best puppy dog eyes. "Pleeease?" he said, batting his eyes. "Victoria needs her mommy."

"Oh no, no way," she said, shaking her head but keeping her voice down to avoid upsetting the doll. "I took that class once. I don't need to do it again."

"Besides, it's never too early to start practicing for the real thing."

"Yes," Wyatt said. "Yes, it is. Too early."

"This is me. Not arguing." They had plenty of time to make Miss Victoria a reality. A reality that would happen well after college.

"So it's just a matter of surviving a week?"

Wyatt nodded. "Yeah. Anakin sucks."

"Again with the not arguing."

The droid baby was sleeping. For the moment. Hopefully for the night. Isabel carefully set it down on the bed and whimsically covering it with a blanket.

Tiptoeing away from the bed, she slipped her arms around Wyatt's waist and gave him a quick hug. "I lied. I will help. But you have to take the two a.m. feedings. After all, she's going to be a bottle fed baby."

Wyatt looked down at Isabel's chest. "Why put those to waste?" he asked.

"Because right now? I like the idea of sleep too much," she replied, sticking her tongue out at him. "I'll keep the bed warm."

"Speaking of bed," Wyatt said, looking at the baby, "where are we going to sleep?"

"Do you have an extra pillow and blanket? We can make a little nest for her on the floor," Isabel suggested. "And tomorrow you can see about getting a little basket or something for her."

"How about the bathtub?" Wyatt suggested. "What, it's not like it's full of water."

Despite the disclaimer, Isabel still thwapped him lightly. "No. No bathtub. That's just wrong. Besides, the doll probably has sensors or something in it. And it'll start to cry if you do."

"I bet there's a silence spell in the Book of Shadows," Wyatt mused.

Isabel stared. "You're just saying that so you don't have babysitting detail in the future."

". . . would I do that?" Wyatt said innocently.

"If you're smart? No. Because I'd have to kick your ass and then make you sleep on the couch," she laughed, sliding her arms around Wyatt's waist and squeezing. "And I'm not sure what will make me crankier. Using spells on the baby or sleeping alone."

"How about I ask my mom if she used spells on me and Chris," Wyatt said teasingly. "We turned out okay. Well, I did, at least. Chris is a neurotic little freak." But he said that last with love.

Wyatt might have been teasing but Isabel's thoughts had turned to Clayton Wheeler and what Piper and Leo had done to keep Wyatt and Chris safe. "Neuroses aside, yeah, you guys did turn out okay. But think about why that happened. Is it because they left you? To make sure you were safe?"

She paused, trying to think of the right words. "There's always going to be a danger of someone finding out what I am, the thing with Wheeler proved that. And because of what you are, what you need to do, you're going to be a target. That would put Victoria, or any other child in danger, just because they belonged to us. Is that fair to them?"

Damn Anakin for making her think like this at this point.

Wyatt frowned. "My mom and her sisters lost my grandma when they were kids, but their Grams raised them just fine," he said. "She protected them from demons on her own. I understand why my parents did what they did, but that doesn't mean I agree with it. I'd make sure Victoria would be safe."

"I know you would." Or at least he'd want to. But the last two weeks had shown her that they couldn't always do what they wanted to. "This is just my brain. Thinking too much and too deeply."

"All because of a droid baby."

"Yes, you are," Wyatt said, putting his finger over her lips. "Don't worry about it. I had powers from the womb. What's to say Victoria wouldn't as well?"

Isabel shook her head and smiled. They had plenty of time. She could let it go for now.

"Okay, in that case, forget the bad guys. I'm worried about us." With a kiss to his fingertip, Isabel rested her head against Wyatt's shoulder. "It doesn't freak you out talking like this? Kids, forever?"

"Nope," Wyatt said, playing with her hair. "Well, it's a little too soon to be taking care of a baby now, but the thought of being a dad someday doesn't scare me. As long as it's with you."

"Way too soon," she corrected. "But you're right. Not so scary when you're in the picture."

Chuckling, Isabel turned her face into his neck and smiled. "I can never snark on Max and Liz again."

"I don't know if I'm down with the idea of you being deprived of snark," Wyatt mused. "It might be dangerous to hold it in."

"Oh trust me, I've got plenty of other opportunities to let it out," Isabel told him. "As long as there's reality TV for us to watch."

"Then I'll make sure that need is met," Wyatt grinned. "Make Me a Supermodel?"

"I was just thinking the same thing," she laughed. "Save Ronnie!"
