Halliwell Manor, Sunday afternoon

Wyatt had been hard at work all morning baby-proofing the Manor. Fortunately, even though it was an old building, it had been blown up and rebuilt so many times over the years that a lot of the structure had been modernized. And on top of that, Piper and Leo had done a lot of work before he and Chris had been born.

Mostly he was making certain all potion and spell ingredients were safely -- and magically -- locked away. There was no telling what mischief a part-witch, part-whitelighter, part-alien baby was going to get into when she was born.

Strawberry frozen yogurt topped with hot fudge and a heavy splash of Tabasco sauce totally counted as a healthy lunch, especially if you were almost eight months pregnant.

"Want some frozen yogurt?" Isabel asked, taking a seat on a chair so she could supervise.

Wyatt side-eyed Isabel. "Not if it's got Tabasco on it," he said.

Hot sauce was good, but not on ice cream, OK?

"All for me then," she teased. This shouldn't be a surprise considering they'd been buying Tabasco in bulk since January. "But if you ask nicely I'll get you some from the kitchen since you've been working so hard."

"Sure you can waddle that far?" Wyatt said, preparing to duck from anything thrown his way.

Oh yes, there was a decorative pillow on a direct path to Wyatt's head. Surprisingly it was not powered by TK, but instead by a toss of Isabel's right arm and a serious sense of indignation. "Hey now. This is the mother of your child you're talking about."

Wyatt agreeably let the pillow bounce off his head, then moved over to Isabel's chair, putting a hand on her stomach. "And how is the child doing today?"

"She's pretty quiet at the moment. I think she's sleeping. With her foot wedged under my rib." She placed her hand over Wyatt's, enjoying the contact.

"Is she going to drink Tabasco straight from the bottle once she's born?" Wyatt teased.

"Maybe not at first. But by the time she's gobbling up strained carrots, I'm sure she'll have a taste for it."

He'd bought stock. And also an emergency case in the basement.

"If it wasn't a demonic power, I'd be almost surprised if she didn't develop the power to breath fire," Wyatt said.

He was such a smart husband and father-to-be.

"Because all that Witchy-Whitelighter stuff combined with the alien-fu isn't enough? If you just jinxed us..." Isabel laughed. "I have this sudden desire to go buy fire extinguishers."

"We've only had a couple glimpses of what she can do," Wyatt said. "I have a feeling we're going to have our hands full. Hence the locking up of all magical ingredients."

Which still left the regular herbs and spices, but hopefully those wouldn't be too dangerous to a wee pixie girl.

"It's a good idea. Which will probably work until she's four and surprises us by vanquishing a demon with a witty rhyming stanza all on her own."

Which would be the point Isabel would just laugh and laugh.

"I'm not sure she'll wait until four," Wyatt said, ducking his head to kiss her belly.

"I know we've said it before, but we're so doomed." The fact that Isabel was laughing as she said that was proof she wasn't all that worried. "I like that," she said, smiling down at him. "So does she."

"Good, because she's going to get a lot of it," Wyatt said.

He may have still have had a few residual issues about being given up by his parents, and he never wanted Victoria to feel that way.

Oh yes, Isabel was well aware of those issues and tried to do her best to make up for them. "I don't think she's ever going to doubt for a moment how much you love her."

Wyatt nodded, shifting his hand a little so he could twine his fingers with Isabel's.

"The real question," he said, "is just how long it's going to take her to figure out how to set off the alarm system to get attention."

"Hello?" Wyatt said, answering the phone without checking caller ID.

"So I'm coordinating the colors, and I want to be sure that you guys are good with Jade Rainstorm velvet onesies from Gucci. If you're not going to put Victoria in them, I'm going with the metallic bronze from Prada."

Hi, Wyatt. Aren't you glad your kid can carry off couture? Probably?

"Onesies! Those little one-piece outfits that make babies look more adorable than stuffed alien plushies." Parker huffed in disgruntlement. "I'm trying to coordinate her wardrobe, because I know Isabel could do it, but she shouldn't have to."

Yeah, she's not letting you dress your daughter, Wyatt.

Hey! He had a well-developed sense of...a rather generic fashion.

"I know what a onesie is," Wyatt said indignantly. "I just don't know why I'm supposed to care about jade rainstorm or metallic bronze or Gucci."

"Aaagh. Have you even gotten her furniture set yet?" Parker demanded. "Or her stroller? Or car seat? I don't want your kid to clash with her accessories!"

How was she supposed to get a contract as a baby spokesperson if you ignored the color wheel?!

"We got my old crib out of the attic and a new stroller and car seat," Wyatt said. "I don't think she's going to care if they clash. She's a baby!"

He looked to Isabel with a HELP ME expression on his face.

Parker made an indescribable noise that might be "Men" or "You!", then finally spluttered, "Fine, okay, classics it is. De La Renta and Versace. I swear, if we left it to you, she'd probably be wearing something that wasn't organic."

Or her aunts. Imagine that. Baby girl dressed like Aunt Phoebe or Aunt Paige.

Isabel had taken the opportunity to finish her frozen yogurt (which wasn't so frozen any more) while Parker and Wyatt discussed baby fashion.

She was still amused when she took the phone. "Hello favorite fairy godmother."

"Hello long-suffering mom-to-be," Parker responded, grinning. "How're you feeling? Have you forced Wyatt on a 3am sugar run yet?"

"I am not suffering. I am also not, despite what some people might imply, waddling," Isabel laughed. "And it was only 11 at night when I sent him out for the frozen yogurt last week."

Parker snickered. "Some people are lucky they can orb or teleport, I take it. For a lot of reasons. How are things progressing with my niece-to-be?"

"Exactly the way things are supposed to. She's feisty and likes to use my bladder as a pillow." That was possibly TMI. Parker was just going to have to deal.

"Ew," Parker commented, laughing. "Better you than me... Are you guys going to visit me before she shows up? I'm in Miami for the next four months. You'd like the beach. I'd get you a huge umbrella."

"I think we can make it down for a day or two as long as I travel by Whitelighter Express," Isabel replied. "Although I don't know about going to the beach. Have you seen what maternity swimsuits look like?"

"I have not," Parker admitted. "But isn't that what gauzy cover-ups are for?" She leaned back in her office chair. "How are you handling work with a beach ball strapped to your stomach?"

"They're not particularly flattering, although you do have a point about the gauzy cover-ups." Holding a hand out, Isabel TKed the pillow she'd thrown at Wyatt earlier back over to her and stuffed it behind her back. She wanted to be comfortable for what could possibly be a long chat.

"The nice thing about being in really good shape before getting pregnant is that I have a nice little baby bump, but it's not obnoxious. At least not yet."

"What's your due date again?" Like she didn't have it circled on the calendar. "Nothing's changed to move it up, or down, or sideways...?" Heh. "And good for you. You keep doing that. 'Cause I'm not."

"The first week of September, give or take a day or two." There was a countdown clock on her phone. "Are you all set to fly in for a visit when that happens?"

"Of course!" She had her travel site booked for the beginning of the week, return date left open. "Aside from adorable clothes, do you need anything else? I know the Halliwells are probably hovering, but is there anything they haven't thought of?"

"What they haven't thought of, I'm sure Mom, Maria and Liz have and I'll find out at the baby shower I have no idea they're planning for next month," Isabel laughed.

"Shhhh! You have to pretend to be surprised." Parker grinned hugely. "All right, fine, I'll figure out a perfect present for a baby alien-angel-witch myself. Luckily, I'm a genius, this won't be that hard."

"I will be the very picture of shocked and happily surprised. They tried hard, but when four different people asked me my plans for the same weekend, it's hard not to realize something is up," she pointed out.

"Those people... " Really, they should have left it to Parker. Oh well. "Right. I'll pretend I think you're surprised... Zero's coming in tonight, I'll tell her to get something fun for you too. If her mail hasn't caught up with her yet."
