Room 208, Saturday Morning

Wyatt, a grin on his face, woke up slowly from very pleasant dreams. The details faded as he became conscious, but he knew they'd been good.

He yawned, stretched, and opened his eyes. Except everything was still dark. He blinked and rubbed his eyes. They were definitely open and he was definitely awake, but he couldn't see a thing. He could hear birds outside the windows; it had to be morning. The curtains weren't thick enough to blot out the morning sun, and besides, even if it was still night, there were outside lights and the glow of his alarm clock. But he couldn't see any of that.

Commence flailing.

Tannim wasn't quite awake yet, but his roommate's flailing penetrated his groggy mind. "You okay?" he asked, opening one eye to look at Wyatt.

Wyatt looked toward his roommate's voice. "Tannim? Where are you?" he said frantically.

"Um, right here," Tannim said. "What's going on?"

"I can't see!" Wyatt flailed. "Dude, what the hell is going on?"

"I don't know," Tannim said. He sat up, worried. "Did you drink a lot of grain alcohol recently?"

"I wasn't drinking at all last night," Wyatt said. He sat up, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed. "I could see perfectly fine."

"Okay," Tannim said, trying to think. He picked up a lollipop from his dresser and unwrapped it. "What did you do last night?"

"Me and Chris were" -- uh oh -- "umm . . . studying," Wyatt said. It couldn't be because of the spell, could it? But what else could it be?

Tannim raised his eyebrows, an effect entirely wasted on his blind roommate. "You were studying with your brother on a Friday night?" He sighed. "Man, you suck at lying."

"We did a spell, okay?" Wyatt said. "But you can't tell anyone!"

"I won't tell," Tannim promised. "What was the spell for? I'm assuming not to make you blind, otherwise you wouldn't be so surprised about it."

"It was to make Cally shut up," Wyatt sighed, rubbing his forehead. "She's been spreading all sorts of rumors about me and Anders."

"What kind of rumors?" Tannim asked, curious.

"That we're making gay porn," Wyatt grumbled. He eyed Tannim, or rather, would've if he could see. "That didn't have anything to do with that weird movie you gave me, did it? I didn't have anything to play it on but I googled it. Dude, what the hell?"

"That I gave you?" Tannim frowned. "When did I - oh." He suddenly remembered (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/1040431.html?thread=85757743#t85757743). He felt his face heat up. "No, I just found some old educational films in the basement. I don't remember what logic I used to give them out." Not wanting to linger on his time as Santa Claus, Tannim hurried on. "So, you tried to curse Cally and it backlashed on you?"

"I guess," Wyatt groaned, burying his face in his hands. "We just wanted to teach her a lesson about spreading gossip about people."

Tannim groaned. He threw a pillow at Wyatt. "Magic's about balance," he said, resisting the urge to add dumbass. "If you go around cursing people, you throw the balance off and make yourself vulnerable."

"I didn't know that!" Wyatt protested. "It was just supposed to be a harmless prank!"

Tannim reminded himself that Wyatt hadn't had to listen to Chinthliss's lectures on the subject on a regular basis. He sucked on his lollipop and considered options. "Maybe if you undo the spell you did last night, you'll go back to normal?"

"Maybe," Wyatt said grudgingly. "I'll have to find Chris and see if we can undo it."

Tannim nodded, then remembered Wyatt couldn't see it. "Probably the best way to go," he said. "I'm here if you need my help."

"Thanks, dude," Wyatt said. "I'll let you know if we need a hand." He sighed and shook his head. "Stupid spell."
