Piper's room at the Arms, Sunday afternoon

Wyatt and Chris definitely wanted some quality time with their would-be mother before she had to leave the island, so Sunday afternoon found them at the Arms, knocking on Piper's hotel room door.

"Dude, did I tell you she didn't show up with Lindsey at the dance?" Wyatt asked Chris while they waited for Piper to answer. "She came with Veronica."

"Seriously?" Chris asked. "Was she like, with Veronica? Or just, you know, as friends?"

"You got me," Wyatt said. "I didn't talk to them. But I hope not, because being half-Veronica would be worse than being half-Lindsey."

Piper, who had been packing to go home later tonight, went over to open the door when she heard the knocking.

"Hey," she greeted. "I was going to call you two later. Didn't want to leave without saying goodbye."

Chris smiled. "Yeah, we wanted to spend a little more time with you before you took off," he said.

"We couldn't let you leave without spending some time with our sorta mom," Wyatt added.

"I'm glad you stopped by then," Piper grinned, going over to hug them.

Chris hugged her and then stepped out of the way.

"So Wyatt said you were at the dance with Veronica," he said, totally not subtle at all.

"Good to see you, too," Wyatt said, hugging Piper then waiting to hear her answer Chris's question.

"I was at the dance with Veronica," Piper confirmed. "As friends."

She looked at Chris. "I didn't see you there."

"I was with Lana," Chris said, very relieved to hear that his mother hadn't switched teams. "Her boyfriend got pulled out of school and she was pretty bummed, so we hung out."

"I was there," Wyatt said. "But I didn't get a chance to go talk to you."

"That's okay, I figured we'd catch up some other time," Piper replied, giving Wyatt a curious look. "I saw you with Isabel."

Chris was totally smirking at that, recalling his conversation with Parker. "They called the wedding off," he informed Piper.

"Yeah, I danced with a few girls," Wyatt said, then trying to deflect the subject, he brought up, "So why weren't you there with Lindsey?"

Piper raised an eyebrow. "Trying to change the subject?"

But she did answer the question. "We kinda needed time to deal with... something." She sighed a little before continuing. "You know, it would have been nice if you told me your dad was my freakin' handyman."

Chris stared. "How did you find out?"

"You didn't want to know!" Wyatt protested.

"That's beside the point!" Piper replied. "I didn't think he'd end up being the handyman!"

"I found out when he healed me," she said in response to Chris's question. Then she mentally facepalmed. That meant she might have to explain why.

"Healed you from what?" Chris asked, definitely not letting that slide.

"You were hurt?" Wyatt said, suddenly concerned. "What happened? Was it a demon?"

"No, it wasn't supernatural at all," Piper explained. "I kind of got sick."

"Sick with like a disease or something?" Chris asked. "Why didn't you call us?"

"How sick were you if Dad had to heal you?" Wyatt said.

"Sick enough to be hospitalized," Piper admitted. "I didn't want you two to worry."

Chris frowned. "But what if you... we wouldn't have..."

He shook his head. "You should have called us."

"We could've helped you," Wyatt said. "I could've have healed you."

Piper suddenly felt guilty. "I know. I'm sure Phoebe would have called you if Leo hadn't intervened."

"I know we're not really your sons," Chris said. "But you're the closest thing to a mom we have."

"Yeah," Wyatt said quietly. "We don't want to lose you."

Piper frowned, not realizing just how much of an impact this would have on them. "You're not gonna lose me."

"So you'll call us next time something happens?" Chris asked.

"Call us," Wyatt urged as well. "We can get to you right away if you need us."

Piper nodded. "I'm definitely gonna call you next time, promise."

She meant that, too. She figured having them around to heal next time would be less awkward than if Leo was there to do it.

"Good," Chris said.

"So, um... how was Dad?"

"Did you two . . . talk?" Wyatt asked. "Does he know about us?"

"He wasn't there when I woke up... after he healed me," Piper explained. "But I handwavily saw him a few days later. Apparently healing me was against the rules, so he's been put on probation or something. I don't know. The Elders don't make sense a lot of the time."

She looked down. "I didn't tell him about you. I wasn't sure how to bring it up. I mean... I didn't want him to freak out, you know?"

Chris nodded. "That makes sense. Hopefully the Elders won't make him stay away from you."

"I'm glad the Elders don't try to mess with us," Wyatt said, frowning. "They sound kind of stupid."

"I haven't run into them myself," Piper said. "But Grams has told my some stories. They seem useless to me."

"Doesn't seem to be much information from them or about them in the book," Chris offered.

"Sounds like they just show up and tell you what to do," Wyatt grumbled.

"That's pretty much it, yeah," Piper said, rolling her eyes.

"Well, hopefully they won't track us down," Chris said.

"They haven't so far," Wyatt said. "I mean, if they want to tell us about a demon we need to kill, that's one thing, but they're not going to tell me who I can and can't heal."

"Good, you shouldn't let them," Piper said, nodding. "And if they try to mess with you two, well, then they'll have to deal with me."

"They really don't," Piper agreed. "It's not a good idea to cross the Halliwells."
